    Finvesto Junior Depot reviewed

The provider finvesto specializes in investment funds, offering three different depots: for VL savers, adults, and minors. Here, we explain how you can secure your child's financial future with the finvesto U18 Depot. Our test provides detailed information about account opening, costs, and more.

How ETF savings plans work for your child

ETF savings plans enable long-term wealth accumulation and are an attractive alternative to traditional savings accounts. By investing in a diversified basket of assets, you significantly reduce overall risk. The broad diversification of individual assets can mitigate fluctuations in financial markets. At finvesto, you can choose from 8,000 funds. To help you get started, the provider offers a list of the most frequently purchased ETFs.

How to open a Finvesto depot

Want to open a depot for your child with finvesto? No problem: We'll guide you step-by-step through the process:

    1. Choose a fund: Select one or more funds. You can choose to start investing immediately or make a deposit later. If you choose a savings plan, you can directly set the savings rate and payment intervals.
    2. Enter personal data: Under "Personal data of the depot holder," enter your child's information. Finvesto recognizes it as a children's depot based on the birth date. Then, provide the personal data of the legal guardians.
    3. Legal guardians' consent: Print and sign the depot opening application. All legal guardians must sign – unless there is sole custody.
    4. Verification: Identity verification is done via the Post-Ident procedure. Both legal guardians must verify their identities with their ID cards at a post office. Include a copy of the child's birth certificate with the application documents sent to finvesto.
    5. Once finvesto receives the documents, they will be reviewed and processed. Within a few days, you will receive an opening confirmation by mail and shortly thereafter, the online PIN.

    Login: Step-by-step guide

If you have already opened a U18 depot, you can log in within seconds. Visit the finvesto website and click "My Login" at the top right. Enter your access ID and password in the form that appears. You should have received your personal access ID by mail beforehand. If not, please contact the provider.

Who can deposit into the Junior Depot?

Parents determine the amount of the regular savings contribution, which can be changed and paused at any time for free. Savings intervals are also individually determined by the parents. In addition to regular contributions, extra payments can be made. Relatives and friends can also contribute to building the child's wealth. Even small amounts from €0.01 can be deposited. When transferring to the children's depot, simply specify the depot number and position in the reference.

    Costs and fees

Children pay no depot management fees until they turn 18. However, costs are incurred when trading funds and ETFs. Buying an ETF share costs an average of 0.45% of the transaction volume, depending on the fund company. For a savings rate of €100, this would be €0.45. If you opt for a fund savings plan, finvesto offers a 75% discount on the issue surcharge, which can be up to 5%.

How to cancel the Finvesto depot

To cancel your child's finvesto depot, you need to fill out a form and submit it to the provider. You can either sell your entire holdings or transfer them to another custodian. The relevant forms are available on the fnz.de website under the FAQ question "How can I cancel my depot?".

Contact: How to reach the U18 Depot provider

If you have questions or issues with your depot, you can contact finvesto support via email or hotline. They are available from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and are happy to assist you.
