Opening a Junior Depot – Step by Step

The Junior Depot can be opened with the “Young Account” from the age of 7 and is available for all children and adolescents up to 22 years old. Minors cannot open the depot or account independently and need a guardian to accompany them to a branch.

Checklist for Opening a Junior Depot:

    • Child’s Birth Certificate: To verify identity and age.
    • Parents’ ID Card or Passport: To verify identity and conduct the PostIdent process.
    • Child’s Tax Identification Number: Necessary for tax purposes.
    • Consent of Both Parents: If both have custody, both must agree to the opening and sign the document.

Opening is usually done at a Postbank branch, where the necessary identity checks can be conducted via the PostIdent process. Online opening with VideoIdent is currently not possible at Postbank.

Note: From the age of 23, the account is automatically converted to “Postbank Giro Plus”, which changes the conditions.
