Bunq credit card for kids in review
Since December 23, 2022, you can open a Bunq account for your child and manage it as a parent through the Bunq app. This allows your child to learn how to handle money while you retain control. There is no minimum age for opening an account, but your child should have their own email address and phone number. In our Bunq review, you will learn more about the functionality and benefits of the children's credit card.
How to open a Bunq Account: It's easy!
Applying for a Bunq credit card is quick and easy. First, download the Bunq app and register. For registration, you need a European address and your ID card or passport. When you open an account, you can generate a virtual card in the app and order a physical credit card online.
Once you have opened a Bunq account for yourself, follow these steps to set up access for your child:
Open the app and go to the home screen.
Click on "add" and then "add child."
Fill out the form with your child's personal information.
Choose the desired account type and plan.
Set your child's budget.
Once your child's email and phone number are registered, they will receive an invitation by email or SMS. Your child just needs to follow the instructions in the invitation, and you will have full access to their account.
Note: If your last name and your child's last name do not match, you must verify your legal guardianship during registration with a birth certificate or equivalent document.

At Bunq, you can choose between three account models with different services and conditions: Easy Bank, Easy Money, and Easy Green. All three offer parental control access, with up to two parents able to be added. You can provide your child with their own account where they can save and spend money while you set spending limits and receive real-time notifications of transactions. This promotes your child's financial education and independence.
Easy savings: The Bunq savings account
In addition to the children's credit cards, Bunq also offers a savings account called Easy Savings. With this free savings account, your child can invest money and benefit from attractive interest rates. In the first 4 months, they will receive 3.85% interest on the balance. After that, the standard interest rate of 1.56% applies. The special feature is that the interest is paid out weekly, allowing your child to benefit more quickly from compound interest.
Costs and fees of the prepaid credit cards
The Bunq prepaid credit cards have monthly account maintenance fees. The Easy Bank model costs €2.99 per month, while Easy Money costs €8.99, and Easy Green costs €17.99 per month. In the first 30 days, your child can test the credit cards for free.
Additional costs may arise for cash withdrawals. Easy Money and Easy Green offer six free cash withdrawals per month. Each additional withdrawal costs €0.99. For the Easy Bank credit card, all withdrawals cost €0.99. Since the fees vary by card model, you should carefully consider which option best suits your and your child's needs.
Only the Easy Savings savings account is free of charge. There are no fees for withdrawals, but some deposit methods may incur small fees.
